My first experience at #QBConnect
As Quiddity Xperience Manager, I was encouraged by our advisor Dyean Moodley to attend QBConnect in Sydney. QBConnect is held in London, Silicon Valley and Toronto each year and this was only the 2nd time in Australia. I had read a few articles, the blogs and tweets, but none of it could do justice to the vibe and atmosphere at the Australian Technology Park on the 24th of May.
With my Quiddity tshirt on, I joined the #before7amclub as I boarded the train from Penrith to head into the city. As the train approached Redfern station, anticipation built up around all the high profile entrepreneurs on the speaker line-up…I was so looking forward to hearing from Mark Bouris and Melanie Perkins . I was also looking forward to catching up with other players within the QBO eco-system… I’d heard that the event was sold out but seeing the queues for registration, blew my mind – 1200 attendees attended the day and there were was a curated lineup of exhibitors.
Melanie Perkins is CEO and co-founder of Canva, an online design and publishing tool which makes graphic design simple for everyone. First up, she was on the couch with Scott Cook, the co-founder of Quickbooks. Since launching in 2013, Canva has grown to over 10 million users across 190 countries and to hear her share their story was a true inspiration! I couldn’t help but think about Quiddity and our mission to make workflow simple for business owners.
Being a Westie, it was very special to see fellow Sydney Hills Business Chamber member Lielette Calleja on stage. Lielette runs her business from the Hills District and she is a local powerhouse when it comes to bookkeeping, a segment of the professional services market that loves Quiddity!
Quiddity is a start-up with product in market since November 2017 so for us its all about growth. Being a workflow tool, Quiddity is all about making small business owners more productive, so it was wonderful to hear Lielette share that when her clients have duplicate manual processes, she encourages them to automate with the use of apps.
The day ended with many great memories, lots of tips and tricks to take back to the office and two sore feet!
